Journal from a guy who doesn’t really know much. I just love writing code and optimizing websites and I can’t tell you why.

So I removed my family from Portland Oregon in January of 2008 and moved to Puerto Vallarta Mexico. I’m 39 years old and have been running my own websites for 10 years but I have been really lazy so I started to take on some projects for other people. I have a good general knowledge of SEO Tactics and that is what has kept our websites making money over the last 4 years while living outside of the United States.

I am a high school dropout and have been self employed for about 10 years mainly focusing on Search Engine Optimization for my websites. I love the once famous statement by Winston Churchill “Capitalism is the worst system except for all the others”.

Search Engine Optimization

My Search Engine Optimization experiences happened by accident when I started my first website for my local sporting goods moving business in Oregon. It was at a time when nobody in our industry was online with a website so we ended up getting the majority of the website traffic. With that type of environment I could easily determine what was making our website the #1 ranking on all major search engines including Google and I decided to make a national website to expand my online business. Now our website makes enough to live on and get by but being human and as much as I try to fight the urge I still want more. All of the SEO research I have done was completely by trial and error over the years and still I only consider myself to know the basics.

Three years ago I left the United States of America in search of something better. It was time to spend my days watching my kids grow and enjoying this incredible thing we experience as life in a slower, less demanding place on Earth. We sold everything we owned (almost) and left for Puerto Vallarta, it was a chapter that needed to be closed in our lives and with the turning of a new page we have changed everything about our lives.

In offering a brief description of history I have been a small business owner in the United States for several years and do not go well with authority of any kind. I moved to Mexico after coming to the shocking realization that the dream that I had been taught in America was not a reality that I would experience in my lifetime. After a two year transition of searching in Mexico I was able to begin learning more about the human mind and the realities of life or how the planet could be viewed by us if we weren’t all so busy and controlled by the ego. I don’t know were I am going and I don’t know where we will settle, that gives us the most freedom that I can experience, not tied to much, not owning much and living a very simple life as it should be lived.

We lived in Puerto Vallarta for two years, Merida Yucatan for 1 year (Yawn) and are now back in Puerto Vallarta. If anyone finds spelling or grammar problems with my website it’s because I don’t care and love the fact that since I don’t have anyone to really please or answer to I don’t have to stress about the details so please excuse me.
